wideband sensor question 10 Years, 8 Months ago Karma: 72
Hey i have a wideband sensor lying around and im wondering if i can put it to good use.
Its a genuine part for a 05 BMW 520d.
The question is can i use it with any wideband gauge or will i have to go buy a whole kit together?
Also is there some control box of some sort that goes between the sensor and the gauge or is it as simple as connecting a couple of wires from the sensor straight to the gauge?

For some reason it has 6 pins but only 5 wires...

Thats a bosch sensor and they are fairly generic. There are a couple of different types that are distinguishable by the number of wires. Afaik widebands can. not run direct to a gauge they need a control module. I have a Zeitronix zt2 system which is quite good, there are also aem wideband controllers that I heard are good. Maybe take a look at the Zeitronix website and see what type of sensors they support, my recollection is that while the sensors arent cheap the whole kit is a lot more but quite fun/interesting to experiment with.

Thanks, had a look at that zeitronix website they have a kit which dosent include the sensor for 139 dollars, them sensors are bosch also and connections look the same, if i dont find a kit ill probably order one from that site.

If anyone is getting rid of their afr kit at the right price i would probably buy it.
Or if anyone got one of them afr kits i could borrow or ill come down and use it there and then?
Ill pay aswel.
