One query from a complete N/A nut.

I believe the Rev 2 head is better for a high boost build than a Rev 3. Could anybody explain to a numpty like myself why, I am budgeting a tubby conversion and was wondering what the difference is and what would be the best build. As in a rev2 head coupled to rev 3 turbo and ancillaries.

This project may never go ahead, but if the right equipment comes up for the right prices I might start buying stuff for when I have myself back on the road but of course after the V6 is running good and proper.

The MRk II is a 1995, I will be doing the conversion in time but just thinking of building the engine myself over time and from what I have garnered to date, but cant remember why, the Rev 2 head is better. I am just looking for some input from anybody in the know.

I think the gen1/2 block is better. Gen1 & 2 blocks had thicker clyinder walls - I've heard of some Gen3 blocks that have cracked. Having said that, if you get a Gen3 block and head, just sleeve the block if you're going for big power ?

But, as Quandry said - the head was one of the areas that was improved for the gen3.

Be nice to see your Anniversary mk2 boosted

Right I got my info mixed up then.

So a good basis for a build would be a Rev 2 block coupled to a Rev 3 head. All I need do is find the bits to put together and a 5SFE crank

I think the consensus in the US is that the 98 Camry block (or maybe Celica) is the best one to get. Stronger again than a GenII. This is all speculation however without knowing your power goals. I'm pretty sure your run of the mill GenIII is good for 400hp AT THE WHEELS!!

Note: all of my information is second hand Internet stuff (may be rumour). If Tim, Scott, or Steven posted in here, that would be worth listening to.
