Gaz's mk2 big brake upgrade 10 Years, 11 Months ago

Hi all, I completed this upgrade on my car a few months ago, and have since sold a number of kits to allow others to do the same.
This allows the fitment of bigger discs on the rear (mazda rx8 front 323x22mm) but keeps the stock rear (rev2+) calipers, and allows the fitment of bigger front discs (supra twin turbo (uk spec) 323x30mm) and nissan 200sx s14a 4 pot calipers.
The brackets are CNC machined from a solid block of aluminium
The reason I chose to base the kit on these calipers, is because they're relatively cheap and easy to find. The 300zx and i've been told r32 GTR calipers also fit, as they share the same bolt patterns.
The difference in braking performance is incredible, and everyone who's bought them so far have said they're awesome
The kits are priced as follows:
Front brackets only, with all mounting hardware £75 inc. uk delivery
Front and Rear brackets, with all mounting hardware £145 inc. uk delivery
Full fitting instuctions with pictures are included with the kits
You will need 17" or bigger wheels, and have 60mm clearance between your disc face and back of wheel spokes to clear the caliper
Here are some pics:

If anyone is interested in doing this conversion, please let me know, and i'll be happy to help

Nice job Gaz! do you have to change the bias valve between the front and the back brake system though?

Nice product
Few other mods to do first but brakes are on my to-do list later in the year.

I didn't mate no, and nobody else thats fitted them have either. I fully tested them myself before offering them as kits, and was suitably pleased that no other modifications were necessary.
The difference over a stock rev2+ setup is like night and day.

70 - 80% of braking is done by the front wheels anyway (from memory?) so really the only reason to upgrade rear discs would be for aesthetics.
Is it the same bolt pattern for Brembo calipers? it may be my Australian roots but I'd have trouble putting Nissan callipers on my car

I think mid engine cars use the rear brakes more than cars with engines up front. I changed my rear calipers to Wilwood's because I was fed up with the original calipers seizing (though I must say four pots do looks nice on the rear ).

Aren't the s14a & skyline 4 pot calipers the same as the st205 calipers?

Same style but different bolt patterns I believe. Plus the gt4 calipers are more expensive and harder to find

Hey Gaz, are you using the aluminium callipers or the cast iron?
Sean.

Hi Sean, I'm using the cast iron s14a on my car, but Protok over on the mr2oc is using the alloy GTR ones on his
Kayjay_07 is using the 300zx calipers, but I'm not sure if they're cast or alloy ?

Hi mate, yes, they'll fit any model
You need at least 17" wheels to clear the calipers, and you also need to check to make sure you have 60mm clearance between your front disc face, and rear of your wheel spokes.
Providing that's all good, drop me a pm, and i'll get them sorted out for you
