So, my project begins ....

Just to note - this project may not be the quickest moving of projects. So, updates may not be that frequent !

Well, I've always been a fan of flushmount and low-rise popups. I even purchased a set of housings for flushmounts from MR2Lover (now Ryan of 2Bar Tuning, who sold his car and is now being sold to Shane (widebody for sale up North)).

To get custom flushmounts to sit right, waterproof, adjustable etc is not a small job !

So, some people chose Celica lights etc - just buy the unit, cut up your car a bit and sorted.

I like the stock popups when they are down because the lines of the 2 are great and with the lights down, the lines are uninterrupted.

But when up, IMO, they just go up that bit too far.

Rogue do a lovely set of low rise headlights with twin round lamps in each. But I am doing this on a budget.

What I have found is that GTO lights (not sure what version GTO) are 4" x 6" - whereas stock MR2 are 6" x 7". And I prefer to keep the rectangular lamps, over a twin round lamp version.

I picked up a set of GTO lights for £25

Now, I am on the hunt for a set of stock headlights - so, that I can play around with test fitting them. I can't afford to be spending time taking my current lights in and out every time I want to test something.

I have also contacted Rogue Motorsport, who do their own low-rise kit. So, I am buying the shortened rods from them This will ensure my lights pop up to the correct height. Big thanks to Rogue for supplying parts from their kit.
