Awesome idea but you want that boost controller higher to keep an eye on overboost.
Good places are over the steering column and where the clock is.
Thats where i put my boost controller and turbo timer.
Unless you like your mr2 looking as stock as possible then i think thats perfect.

Thanks Spla
Ya I'm trying to keep a fairly stock look (whats stock about 2 CD players?!!!!), but i think it should do the job where it is for what i'll be using it for was thinking about leaving the boost controller one where it is and relocating the actual cd player to the glove box but it's be a b*tch (and dangerous!) to change staions/cds on the move

Ever since i got my turbo ive stopped listening to music lol
Get rid of your actual head unit
Or you could put the boost controller into the little compartment just to the bottom right of the steering wheel, just under the fog light switch.
The mr2 came stock with 2din head unit, it was a cd player and a tape player, so if you can get your hands on a tape player with removable front and put it in there it will look pretty stock

ah for feck sake spla, why did you have to tell me that, something else to go on the list!
My turbo timer currently lives in the little pocket by the fog light switch so no room at the inn!

Got these off peggyontherun around Christmas time as I saw a lot of potential in them. But lately these have really been bugging me as the bad weather we've had has taken there toll on them making them flake really badly, add this to the awful kerbing and i finally had enough of looking at them. Every one seems to have at least one bad story about any of the businesses that refurb so I said I'd give them a go myself....gulp!.....no turning back now!
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
got rid of most of the kerbing and a quick polish. Much more polishing done to refine the finish
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
back to bare metal
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
left the tyres on as no point removing them as will be getting new valves/tyres for nurburg trip when refurb is complete
oh how i wish there were only 5 spoke rims :fail:

thanks lads, I'm going to need all the support I can get!
@ Mister Two: ah the beer was only to take the thirst off me, it's dusty work
@ Silverlux: there a pain to clean alright so you can imagine what they are like to sand! No fingerprints left i just keep thinking to myself "why didn't I go for 5 spokes?!" but then I realise things could be worse, could have gone for bbs Ra's
It's amazing what you find when you start removing 20 years of brake dust:
Rear

Front

By the manufacture dates it looks like the probably left the factory as a staggered set and not pieced together over the years :)
Also, now I know their birthdays so I'm going to dedicate the Nurburgring/europe trip to my wheels 20th bday since I'll be there on these dates:heyhey: I see a party in the not too distant future

Haha they were so bad I had to go back to bare metal!ya my hands are destroyed, but on the upside if the wheel refurbing thing doesnt work out i can become a master thief as i no longer have any fingerprints every cloud has a silver lining
Goint to give the aerosol a go, bought all the stuff yesterday. Thanks a mill for the offer though and if it all goes tits up I might just send them down to you kc+ for the kind offer

no boder at all just remember 2 coats off primer 2-3 color and 3-4 laquer make sure its metal primer ive had two jobs come back to me recently because they wouldnt fork out for the proper primer other then that its easy misty coats for the first coat of each, it gives it something too stick to after that go a bit heavy try and get a nice even coat with the finishing laquer coat as in glossy as ur spraying. 15 minutes between coats and give it an hour when switching from primer to paint to laquer heres a cool trick throw your cans into hot water before you spray you get a better spray when the paint is warm and use a heat gun or a hair dryer to dry the paint after oh and wet and dry them before you prime them use 240-400 gritt wet and dry starting from lowst to highest once you have it wet and dried sparay away mad before the last coat of laquer give it another wet and dry but use 1000gritt paper to get a ridiculously smooth finish just a quick rub with the 1000grit just to smoothen out dont go mad good luck and if you have any questions just ask

Cool thread, thanks for sharing.
What is the lip that is on your MR2? And what models/years did it come with?

Thanks Rex, I recognise the name from TOC, congrats on the 2
It's the standard lip that comes on the rev3+ mr2, 94 onwards, for such a small thing it makes a big difference when put on the earlier revisions too, stick it on the shopping list if you havent got one

Thanks lads, cant wait to have them finished, should be done this weekend all going to plan
@Cozzy: That's pretty much what I'm using, bought the kit in top part, just takes a bit of time but looks like it will be worth it!
@spla: thanks dude, keeping them clean will be a pain but have been looking up sealants and will probably go with the Poorboys stuff as recommended on here and a load of other sites so hopefully wont be too bad. Will probably use the standard alloys as my winter wheels anyway
@Dan: Thanks mate, just trying to keep up with all the work you're doing on your car!

If you are going to keep your standard alloys you should get good winter tyres for them so when the snow rolls in you have the set there to just throw on your car.
You will only be using them at most 3 months a year so they will last you a few years.

that's not a bad idea spla, the fronts have new bridgestones on them and the backs are pretty good but will prob change the rears for something a bit better. Now would be the time to buy winter tyres as well, get them cheaper will definitely be staying away from the chinese ditchfinders if i'm going to make them a winter wheel

the winter tyres wouldnt last even if you use them for only 3 months they just crack and bulge from sitting up idle all the time

Ive got winter pirelli tyres on the front of my car since october and they are still good.
I sell tyres and have some second hand winter ones sitting up for years and they are still perfect.
You should of course let the air out of the tyres if they are not being used, dont leave them outdoors and you will have them for years.
I would pick winter tyres over summer ones any day unless its for drifting because they are very grippy and can be difficult to drift, but i would still keep winter ones on the front all year around.
