Not sure if this is the right section but here goes...

My rear light plastics are quite dull and sort of "hazy". I know plastic polish exists and I've even heard of people using toothpaste to restore them but has anyone any recommendations on how to restore them from experience? I know I've seen someone on here that had them restored professionally and they looked mint but I'm looking for something I can do myself....

Some wet sanding with some light sand paper followed by some polish and polisher if you have one, should bring them up a treat.
I've also seen some people spray black around the outlines of the tail lights after doing this and it really makes them stand out even more.
I think Frank on here might have done this?

If ya around Mallow I'll be happy to convert them into new pieces for free ;)
I use non corrosive/non toxic way to restore them. Alternatively pm for instructions of doing it yourself ;)

Convert to new plastic? am insterested in these instructions?

a bit of autosaul or rubbing compound should sort them out if not wet and dry sandpaper a really high grade like 2000gritt and then a good polish after

T-cut works aswell

PS. Unless they're beyond repair with burned or cracked plastic surface;)

you may have to register on mr2oc to view this, but it's worked pretty well for a lot of folks and is more permanent than a polish/wax. Seems the pictures aren't present anymore so hope this helps somewhat.

and make sure that there is plenty of salt in it. otherwise they get more duller from limescale..i'm not kidding too

hmm you can restore them by using a sand paper or if it not works then you can chenge red plastic part.... because its not much expensive to work hard on that. So I think its the best solution replace them with new one.

yes i have. very easy step to do. pretty much what Infamous has say. i use 1000 grid sandpaper first. then move to 2000 wet sand. then, use plastic polish. after you polish it. spray a light coat of clear over it. and BAM!!! you got yourself some new looking tail light.

for extra work on your tail light. you can bring it out with painting the border black then clear coat it. look alot better. cheer and hope you get it back to new mate

Holy shit ... that's a nice job Mitch, did you lacquer them ?

No, just some 3000 water paper and then machine polished with different grades of paste
