Hi lads. I've had the engine light coming on for a while now and I've tried to get a fault code by connecting the 2 terminals in the diagnostic box but all I get is the engine light flashing constantly rather than counting out a code. Do any of yis know any other way to diagnose the fault or what it means if the light just flashes constantly? Cheers

I've been looking into this diagnostic craic lately myself.".

On off 2 times per second seems to mean its normal.

When is the light coming on and is it staying on?

Yea I saw that page. The light usually comes on after driving for q bit. Sometimes it comes on straight away. Then sometimes it'll stay on the whole time and other times it'll go off after a while. Any ideas??

If the light is flashing constantly every 1.5 seconds then ur crossing e1 and te1 that means ur ecu isnt picking up any faults.

Possibly an intermittent fault. Loose or faulty earth.
Ive seen one that would bring on the light on acceleration and would go off on deceleration.
Turned out to be a faulty ecu..

Lately the light does seem to be going off and on as it pleases. Not on acceleration or anything but just randomly. Sometimes it even seems to be less bright. I dunno, I'm completely at a loss. Surely if it was a fault the error code would be stored until its cleared, but every time I check the light just flashes away like nothings wrong. Is it normal for there to be a kind of clicking from the engine bay that matches the flashing of the light on the dash?

Pull a battery terminal or the plugs out of the ecu to reset all previous codes. then drive it until the light does its thing then do a diagnostic check. There are literally 100s of things it could be, use the diagnostics as they were designed and narrow it down.
