God I would love that Marty, but love my SARD one too much. Mentioned it to Steelheart though. He likes the REV5 wing and he likes CF, just bought himself the same Carbon Culture bonnet as me, so he may be interested, but he just bought new seats too. It's all money, money, money.
BTW, this is normally about 550euro, but Icetronix are selling them for 250euro. They became an agent for Carbon Culture and in doing so had to take in a big initial stock to get things going. They had to take a few different bits for different cars. Now, Icetronix being predominately a Honda house, are not interested in holding parts for other cars, plus they dont' necessarily have the market for it, so they were happy to move these on a a VERY keen price. Good for me, good for Steelheart and one more lucky punter.
Some pics of it fitted:

Here is a vid of it too, courtesy of dshamrock2000 productions:
Not actually seen one fitted mate. I have seen some CF bonnets with literally, a HALF INCH gap down the wings. That was on a 2 I was looking at before buying this one. You could easily see the bolts holding the wings on, with the bonnet "closed."
Some CF parts out there are absolute shite. This bonnet is like 99% of OEM bonnet fit. I have yet to see anything that comes close.
EDIT: BTW, it also has the steel catch built in, so its just fit and drive.
It has a full fiberglass skeleton underneath for extra strenght and still weighs like a third of the stock bonnet.
They say you should always fix down a CF bonnet with pins. I had a fiberglass bonnet before (was on the car when I bought it) and it had big WRC style pins. Was really cheesy and pissed me off everytime I looked at it. Also, anyone can walk up, pull both pins and have access to the frunk. That whole thing had to go, bonnet was just not my style.
Anyway, sometimes I see a little movement with the bonnet at high speed and it does make me wonder, if that catch were to ever let go, I am screwed. So, after a little research I found some flush, locking pins, that are CF too. Very discreet and sexy, strong and have actual proper keys, so well secure.
I haven't seen any MR2s in person with a carbon bonnet fitted. From what I have read is that Seibon was the one to go for, but yours is definately a good fit going by the photos and the video. Is there much of a weight difference between the oem ? In the vid you have piller pods, are they universal or MR2 specific ? I wouldn't mind learning how to make a few things from carbon fiber some time in the future.
About one third the weight of the OEM bonnet Marty. Pillar pods where in it from Japan. They look MR2 specific to be honest.
I have a CF "effect" universal double pillar pod too. Brand new in pack. Not sure of the fit, but if you are interested, maybe swap something for it?. Only worth about 20quid.
Will get a pic maybe tomorrow and stick it up for you if you are interested?
I did think about the problem of the bonnet lifting at high speed. If I was to get one I might look into installing the hinges at the front like on the Ferrari 355. It definately would not lift then.
Well Marty, where abouts are you based, I would be interested in the spoiler alright. Cheers Swagger for the link. I have to say the only reason i went to Icetronix today straight away and bought the bonnet is because i had a good look at Swaggers yesterday and seen the quality & fitment. 1ST Class. I know seibon are meant to be the best but 1) I dont think you can get them here without bringing it in from UK or US and 2) you wont get much change out of €1000
Only thing there is, you would have to build up some plates for the hinges to fix too. Like maybe fiberglass in a couple of steel plates to bolt the hinges too. Could work, and if you had the time and patience, you might be able to wangle in a couple of gas struts! Hmmm....could be pretty cool.
If you are really a mad funker, you could even explore splitting it right down the middle and have both halves opening up to the sides. Bit pointless, not at all for me, but I have seen that done on other cars at US car shows. Way OTT in my opinion, purely for the showcare scene. Ya know, that, lambo front doors, suicide rear doors and a boot lid that raise STRAIGHT upwards on struts by remote controlled servos, all topped off with a 25,000 watt 63 speaker sound system that is so loud you need plexiglass windows, ear defenders and have to stand 20 feet away with a remote to turn it up to 15...
No problem Steelheart. Happy to be of help. Did you see the bit about pins? Forgot to bring that up yesterday. Anyway, found the best ones for the job.
Glad you are interested in Marty's spoiler, needs a good home.
Yep, straight on buddy. You will need a second pair of hands though. You will need to also pop your washer jets out of the OEM bonnet and transfer over and the little rubber pods that adjust the height the front sits at. Easy peasy, just mess around with the hinges until you get it lined up right.
Nice one. I ordered a sheet of carbon fibre off ebay this evening. Im going to cover the headlights with it so it all looks like one big bonnet. what ya think? have you seen it sone before?

Thanks for the offer, but I don't need the pods just yet
Yeah well it looks like Steelheart may be interested.
If so, I am occasionally in Galway, so if you two do work out a deal, I wouldn't mind meeting up with you Marty and collecting in person. I don't live too far from Steelheart and would happily collect it from you and deliver to him.
Steelheart if you want to pay for the postage for the spoiler I can send it to you that way. It would be up to you if you want it insured against any damage or theft.
