Frances 1 point victory was a bit of a fluke with a deflection, but they did have much better ownership of the ball.
Anyways Frenchies, we'll see you in Paris!!
Ireland! Ireland! Ireland!
p.s. I'll be calling for Aussie tomorrow in the Rugby

1st half was very even but they owned us in the 2nd half
not sure if I can watch on Wednesday night, being an Ireland supported has taken a terrible toll on my heart
I reckon the rugby will be tight enough tomorrow

No bad luck in it, you have to have the ball to do anything with it and Ireland didn't have it.
And the Rugby, Ireland FTW

huh? if you are talking about the World Cup qualifying, then it wasn't Australia they were playing, it was Bahrain?

I knew they beat Bahrain, but I just thought australia played in the oceania group and when i heard that new zealand qualified I just assumed australia didn't! I just checked the Fifa website and educated myself though

Its not on TV so you mightn't have much choice there.
But don't worry I'll keep everyone updated from Paris!

1 point victory, showing your sporting heritage there Quandry!!!!
We always needed to score in Paris to have any chance of qualifying, and that hasn't changed.
I hope Diarra gets the shit kicked out of him after the comments he made to Andrew's after the game on Saturday.

game will be on tv now, kind of wish it wasn't in a way. I really can't hack watching ireland play at times. I reckon we're well capable of grinding out a 0-0 draw out there, so all we need is a flukey goal like they got and we're back on level terms

1 - 1 and that puts Ireland out of the mix. A real shame as they played so well and to loose because of a handball goal by the other team. Between that and Frances goal in the first game I think that Ireland were the better side, but just unlucky.
Shame Thierry Henry was not honorable enough to own up to his handball.

unlucky indeed, although if Henry had owned up to it then it would have almost certainly been the end of his International career given it was such a crucial goal
i had actually backed France to win tonight, really should have backed Ireland at 6/4 with a +1 goal handicap like i was going to!

fair play to the lads anyway, they fought right to the bitter end and made us proud. lets not forget that we were 3rd seeds in our group and we finished the campaign losing only one match to a flukey goal by France

Henry did say in some post match interview that he did handle it but it was accidental.
And he actually said he was sorry.
I think if any other team got a goal because of a handball, I don't think they'd say "Hey ref-hang on, hat wasn't a goal because i handled it" ?
Is it in American Football that they allow a video replay/referee ?
