when i try and get codes by crossing the wires at the diagnostic plug the engine light keeps flashing on and off all the time and only stops when i pull out the wire what does this mean,anyone ever come across this

Is the flashing very rapidly or is it in a sequence i.e. 5 short flashes then a gap to two flashes i.e fault code 52 (if one of these exists).

I had that once before on my mates car, it could have been down to worn out connectors in the diagnositc port or perhaps an earthing issue. But it has me stumped what could be causing this for you. I just took the wires out and tried to do it again with different wire and then got codes up. How many times did you try it.

i tried it loads of times. sometimes when i turn on the ignition the engine light dosent even come on still wont fire weather or which
