never done one of these but would love to - whats required for a track day - presume just bring yourself, a full tank of petrol and a lid?

That is about it ... a full licences ... a spare pair of underpants no harm either ...
I do be smiling for about 3 weeks after a track day ... you really realise just how good an mr2 actually is

Sweet - how much does it cost?
What sort of crowd will be at this does anyone know, am I likely to meet some gobshite that'll kill my daily driver

This one is very well run by octane club members ... no chance of any scrotes on track .. Mondello run their own track days and they are a little messier .... you only have to worry about yourself and possible bravery exceeds ability ...
you are perfectly safe
octane track days are 150 and ran on Fridays worth every penny
mondello ones are 200 ish still worth every penny

cheers for that, I might be able to make this then - I'd planned on going to nurenburg this summer
ok so basically I need to get a lid somewhere - any recommendations on something cheap and cheerful I know lidl do them from time to time don't need anything too fancy as it'll only ever be used in the car.

yeah was looking there a few mins ago - theres a few up there..
last question I promise  - anyone recommend a video or such with tips on driving trackdays? done a few laps in a mk2 escort a few years back but nothing much since.

...just downloaded and installed trackmaster for android - as I have the fisheye dashcam I'm going to mount on the back window with view of drivers controls - which brings me to my next project - wire in a cigaretter adapter that lives inside the rear cubby box - a temp wire will have to do for now.

You will be taking it seriously so ...
would be a good idea to do an oil change and if you can change clutch and brake fluid .... you will be getting them very hot so well worth doing and try use high temp oils etc .... remember it will be a lot harder driving than road driving but so much more fun
I boiled my clutch fluid the first time I was out

Cheers Jap all very new with the exception of the clutch fluid
DOT 5.1 went in last year might flush it afterwards though
ive held off on the clutch as I heard its a pure bitch to bleed  no issues with changes and she waa treated to some redline mt90 last year |

Looks to be ready for the track so! Don't be too worried about it for the training day, you won't be going for any lap records that day....you probably won't even remember all the corners by the end of it, but it's a great introduction!

The clutch is only a bitch to bleed if it has been emptied, you will be grand for normal bleeding.
