I like to think we're a friendly helpful bunch here.
N/a are more insurance friendly, especially Irish and UK versions. Japanese imports are harder to insure.
I would recommend test driving both turbo an n/a. Then make up your mind.
It costs a lot more to get good power out of a n/a than a turbo engine.

As Marty has said, non-Imports are definitely easier to insure. A few of us going through woes with Insurance at the moment. So keep your age and the car's age/engine in mind!
I've noticed that the asking prices are definitely rising, don't know what people are getting for them though! But overall, I would say so, yes. You will be getting a lot of car for your money however. Just such a fun car.

Ah nice! Same as myself, I'm on a classic policy as well.
All depends on the revision and its condition really. Do you have a link to it? I wouldn't say it is if it's in good nick

Hey Bluepants ... I think that the jap imports are few euro more expensive to insure, but on a classic policy, there's not a lot in it. I paid 250 for a Jap rev3 T-bar turbo. But many of the imports have some nice toys also that the UK/ Irish ones don't have, a turbo charger being one of them But also ... folding mirrors, power steering, steering fog flight, half leather interior, air con ... but regardless of what type you go for, they are great little cars. I've had turbo and n/a ones ... tintops and t-bars. Get one that you like and enjoy it

Regarding the new parts, as long as they are genuine Toyota parts or it will be classed as modified.
Lately insurance companies have been looking for any excuse not to pay out if it wasn't declared.

Welcome to MR2.ie.
Good luck with finding the right MR2 for you, sometimes patience is required but they are strong cars and can last the test of time with the right maintenance and investment.
