Just thought I would leave this here.
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Picked up yesterday, the next element to the track toy fun between me and my mate Colin.
This car was imported from England and then converted from the oil burning 1ZZ (138bhp) engine to the 2ZZ (190 bhp) engine. The conversion was completed by a fellow member on the site here a regular track day attendee and Irish Touring car competitor.
Why change from Rudolph the red nosed trackcar you say, basically weight and maybe a bit on the power side of thing also I love rev's and this car rev's.
I will put another post up in a couple of weeks but the basic plan is:
Weigh it (995kgs as stock driverless)
Make it lighter than stock
Bring it out on track
Make it lighter
Install coilovers
Set it up for track pleasure on track tyres.
Go faster!!

So I drove her for a spin out (60k) the other night on some local twisty roads. My god what a cracking little car. She is very sure footed on the corners and handles weight transfer beautifully with nicely weighted brakes. I do need to do one thing, the pedals are sh1te for heel toe, useless in fact a bit of adjustment to the pedal height should have her the way Rudolph is. This is within the limits of road driving you understand.
Nice pull out of the engine, infact its cracking. I reckon all the 190 ponies are on show and with the weight of her she pulls all the way to the glorious 8500 rpm rev limit. Oh god I love rev's, you can have all the dump and whizz you want but N/A is my joy. Actually I was taken back by the pull at high revs very freckin nice indeed.
This engine, in this car, is what Toyota should have built or at least offered as a variant on the model. Delighted with the purchase and really looking forward to letting her loose on track. I reckon she would leave the Mrk 2 Beams behind quite easily.
This car is only going on track, she is going to loose weight and then we need to add in the roll bar / cage, 5 point harness's and possibly a fire extinguishers set up as well.
Thanks guys, the trailer cost more than the car, but its a cracker.

Delighted she's running 100% for ya. It really is a cracking engine, made for the track! I had a t-sport corolla as my daily for almost 3 years and it just begged to be revved hard. I never had one bit of bother with it and sold it with 120k miles on her. The "lift" at 6,200rpm never got old.
Has the rev counter been changed over to show the higher rev range?
Can't wait to get a passenger lap in it...
P.s. Since seeing this I've been over on two brutal looking at Woodsports 2zzge mk1 conversions...not for my SC but just dreaming of a dedicated track mk1

Very nice addition Ray - car and trailer
The only problem I see is how to prevent the soiling of the seats come track day

These conversions take the piss out of S2K's so they would prob near give a tubby mr2 a good race!

Classic line Japohara, you shall have kc's your way.
As against a tubby I think this may be a bit quicker once on cam but the turbo would be well on boost by that time.
I reckon Japohara is really feeling the love for these cars, but he may only be looking at this.

Just to update this thread prior to the OTD Friday, Lovely Sparco seats replaced with functional Sparco seats and tied into the seat mounting points. I reckon there is 5 kgs of a difference in each seat.
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Radio out and replaced with lovely carbon wrapped ducting.
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Had to alter the alternator bracket due to crappy Toyota aluminum preventing my from loosening the tension on the fan belt.
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Then weld up proper mounting point for the harmess's
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Last night I replaced the MAF with the correct part number unit as I had burnt the old one out with a short circuit, then reinstalled a new alternator. Then fired her up getting 14.5 volts at the battery and seems to be idling nicer than it ever did. But finished to late to see if the new MAF has sorted out the running problems I had due to shorted MAF. Just waiting for the new tyres to come in from Demon Tweeks now and if they arrive by Thursday we should be well set for the OTD 01/05/15.
Weight loss guess so far.
Base car weight is: 996Kg Curb
Front boot plastic trim and accessories, saving 5 kg
Convertible roof cover and mechanism, saving 35 kg
Internal plastic trim, saving 6 Kg
Replace both seats, saving 7 Kg
Remove radio, saving 2 Kg
So the current curb weight is circa 941Kg, not to shabby.

Nice one, I might be mistaken but isn't the 2zz a lighter engine too... Could you not just have wrapped those harnessses around the bar?
What tyres you going for?
I hope to get down for a look on Friday at some stage.

Not sure on the engine side of thing, the harness's would not wrap around the bar.
Went for Nankang Sportnex NS-2R, will see how they go when they get here. Feckin not in stock, so looks like I shall be shredding road tyres Friday.
Wanna rent me some rims for the day €€

It took me 22 hours to get back to your post so I haven't managed to invent a time machine yet. Latest update is MAF I put in the car made it run crap even though its the proper part number. Put the one from the wifes car in and car it is a rocket ship, wimped out in fourth at 8000rpm
So plan now is to clean the correct part number MAF with electrical contact cleaner and try it again, if its still not right my wife will be without the seven seater on Friday. Ah well!!

Nice job on the weight saving.
If I hadn't already give you a KC for the mk1 I'd have KC'd for the Mk3!
