Hey B4ss, god it's so long since I put them in I can't remember! I don't think I needed to do anything extra to get them to fit if my memory serves me right

Ok...I've made the decision to go back mostly stock on the car.
Plans are to refresh all brake and suspension components for a start.
Have new discs and pads ordered all round for now. Will also be ordering goodridge hoses and new fluid soon.
Then onto the suspension parts

Hiya,
No worries on the photos for speakers...
I installed goodridge hoses on my while doing discs and pads, the hoses make a big difference.
For the suspension, I went for powerflex poly and replaced the worn black bilstens with yellow.
The difference was like night and day, car felt like brand new afterwards, well worth the cash.
Speaking of bushings, do the gearbox linkages brass ones too, well worth it

nice one.
I'm planning on going the same route with the yellow bilsteins! Did you get them new or 2nd hand? I'm hoping to get them from MR2Ben along with the standard OE replacement springs. The top mounts have very little mileage done so i'll re-use the ones from the black billies i think.
Also have superpro polyurethane bush kit on the shopping list, so just the brass shifter bushings to add

I got them brand new from MR2ben - and did the top mounts too...
I use standard springs too, would like slightly lower, but the ride is exactly how I like it, its firm
Good luck with the work

So the first steps on what will be a long road have been taken.
All struts/springs have been removed along with the drivers side rear hub that had a damaged outer cv joint.
New brake discs and pads have arrived from EBC, just direct OEM replacement, nothing fancy.
Also ordered a new Exedy Clutch and replacement outer cv joint from Paul in TCB parts, an absolute gentleman to deal with and highly recommended
Poor neglected car gone up on stands and blocks (just waiting on 2 more axle stands for all you safety gurus!)

Struts after years of neglect, to be replaced by yellow billies and new standard springs. Looks like some spiders will need to find a new home :S

Thanks Ricky, great to see all the familiar faces still posting on here
Hoping to get the originals from Mr2Ben as he has them listed on his site. I know the system will probably work out quite expensive but I really like the idea of going back to the way Toyota intended.
There'll be some scope for changes but certainly want to go back to standard wheels/ride height and suspension geometry.
I reckon next thing to get the chop will be the boost controller as to be honest i never really used it, it just acted as a boost gauge

Ya i was having the same issues so i started using Imgur as suggested by the guys on here. You won't be able to attach images to the forum if you are using the app on your phone, but if you are on you PC/Laptop it's perfect.
Definitely get a thread started, if nothing else it will help when the motivation starts to dwindle and you can look back at where it started!
Best of luck with it, the worse it is now the greater the satisfaction you'll have when it's all tidied up

Nice to see you getting her back on the road!
Re the Ultimax pads, they are the worst pads I've ever had on my mk1, id recommend Toyota pads.

Cheers Tsporter, it will take a while but will get there eventually!
I have yellowstuff pads on it currently but said i'd get the brake kit from EBC and those are the ones that came with it. The yellowstuff are only fit for the bin now anyway so Ulitmax will have to do until shes up and running in anger haha

I had a spare hour this evening so i got to taking off some more bits that are due for replacement/refurb
Crusty rear ARB, have Whiteline front and rear ARBs on the shopping list. If any can recommend an easy way to get at the top bolt on the arb bracket without dropping the subframe that would be great, if not i'll just drop it at a later date when engine is coming out anyway
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Might just hit these with a flap wheel and some hammerite or may replace
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Bent exhaust mount which would explain why the exhaust was slightly off to one side which always annoyed me! 2 of these also on the shopping list
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Removed the rear heatshield that attaches to the boot floor. Thankfully no nasty surprises underneath it. The rust is only surface rust and should clean up pretty well
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Thankfully the boot floor is great condition
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Will keep ye updated...I see a lot of snapped bolts in my future :side:

New 3 piece Aisin clutch kit as well as drivers side outer cv kit

Apparently there are no EU suppliers of the outer cv joint so this one came from Interparts-HK, kindly sourced by Paul at TCB.
Part number for cv joint appears to be 70-1-073 0112 just in case anyone needs it in the future ;)
Part number for clutch is DT-068U, pressure plate is CTX-130

Hey Boomie
May I ask you the full price you paid for the outer CV joint incl postage?
I think mines are going too
Keep the posts coming
Thanks

No worries at all, I think it worked out at about 95gbp incl VAT before postage. I had the clutch and cv joint posted for 18gbp so may be less for just the cv joint.
They seem to be impossible to source for a turbo so I was happy to pay it as even if I could find a 2nd hand one, I would have no idea if it was any good!

That's not too bad price at all, thanks!
When I was on the market for it a few months ago, I figured how hard are these to get.
The closest I got is this:
Carid
It is for USDM, but the guys said at mr2.com that this should be the same for JDM
The price is great, but man, for postage they ask over 100 bucks if I remember correctly + there would be customs duty 12% + VAT 23% + anpost handling fee + whatever ripoff charges.
Anyways,
Thanks for the info mate!

Ya that's actually a really good price for the whole shaft! Would nearly be cheaper to fly there and pick it up yourself though haha
Edit: it might be cheaper to go direct to interparts-hk, their product list is on line, might be worth sending them a mail!

started stripping down the front of the car.
Some crusty goodness on the crash bar but again it looks much worse in the pics than real life. Will give this a freshen up and radiator will be replaced.

Air con rad is completely shot also. Has anyone experience in changing these? Genuine ones are pricey and I've read it can be difficult to get them re-gassed as the original gas is no longer available!

I've no experience with either of the rads yet, but I just bought a full aluminum rad for 135GBP incl postage. Its a mishimoto replica. What rad are u planning to buy?
My thread:

Few pics in the last post
Is it hard to remove the bumper btw?
Cheers
P.S: Hope I'm not hijacking this thread. Am I?

Nice one! It's actually a Mishimoto one I have my eye on, will be nice to compare both! Haha
Just checked out your thread, was wondering why I didn't get notifications on this site for it, I actually came across it on imoc a few days ago!
You're not hijacking at all, it's good to talk haha
Bumper is a bit fiddly and depending on the condition of the bolts and screws holding it in place has the potential to be a nightmare. Luckily I only had a few bad ones but all are pretty much past re-using. I'll be buying stainless replacements when it's going back together.
If you want any pointers let me know and I'll help if I can

Great
I'd wait with the Mishimoto if I was you as I'm pretty sure it is the same thing without the large "M". Mine weights just under 4kg. Found some weight data on amazon which states 2.27kg for mishimoto but I don't think its true because for shipping weight they state 8.5kg which has to be BS.
Mine was properly packed and weights 5.5 with packaging, which means 1.5kg packaging.
If the data would be true on amazon, that would mean that there is over 6kg packaging...Yeah, right. That's why I think the 2.27 for the rad is incorrect.
I will investigate further about this.
Just checked closely the pics on the carid website I linked, and it is also Interparts-HK brand The number looks like TO-1-076- can't see the rest
I might give you a shout for instructions when I replace my rad. I want to rust treat and paint my fan shrouds as well take the fan motors apart, so I might as well treat/paint the crash bar as you do.
Cheers

Stripped the rear lights/panel and bumper tonight.
Removed the carpet in the boot and apart from nasty mould, all looks in good order. The carpet and foam underneath was quite damp so i'm guessing the water is getting through the seals around the spoiler bolts which I believe is pretty common. Thankfully it hadn't set in too much causing the floor to rust
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Wasn't aware that the rear crash bar was plastic but at least it means no rust
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
There was an awful lot of dust on the back of the car behind the bumper so gave it a quick clean as well as removed the crash bar to clean down
_KUNENA_BBCODE_HIDEIMG
Gave the old suspension a quick rinse also
