Bought this car in June 2013 and have it insured as a classic car.
It's a 1991 Rev 1 GT T-Bar. It is a UK import with the same UK owner for the last 21 years!

It's totally original and has some nice upgrades/features.
- Entire professional respray.
- Rev 3 alloys.
- Full leather interior.
- OEM upgraded Leather Momo steering wheel from MR2 G-Limited.
- Clifford alarm.
- Rare OEM Premium Sound System.

Today I bought a new X-brace (Thanks got92tubby) and sanded it back down.
Painted it 205 metallic black. Turned out really good.

So I also got a Rev3 OEM lip from got2tubby. I sanded it down with both wet and dry sandpaper.

Got the base coat on this evening. Seems to be turning out well. I'll try and line it up to the car this weekend and see how it looks.
What do people think, red or black?

Removed horrible dealership stickers today and got a new tax/insurance disk. Then I waxed the car to celebrate my first day of full insurance :)

before you finish the splitter sand it back again and give it some plastic primer the ordinary primer wont last it will peel red is the way to go same as the car

In the meantime I blackened the rear light trim using peanut butter as advised by members here. Thanks!

Ok small update on this. Used silicon cleaner on the rear centre panel this evening.
Over the moon with the results. Worthy of a "man in dandism" I reckon.

Also took the car to the TOC big meet. Was great to see Bommie's car as well as Mitch's old D4d Mr2.

Thank for the link. Luckily the car was brought over in the mid 90s so the sill rust is minimal.
I will follow your advice and treat them hard to find places.

My clear OEM headlights arrived today. Does anyone have any idea how remove the actual lenses from the main plastic holder.
It's clipped on in 4 spots, but they look very fragile.
I might try a heat gun to seperate them as they are filthy.

Other option might be to attack them with a power washer!

Thanks a million man, yeah got lucky on eBay for most of these bits.


I got them all fitted today. Gave the a full days worth of attention today.
- Cleaned out a bunch of leaves from the air vents and fans. I literally filled a bucket!
- Took out all interior plastics and removed years of grime and dust.
- Put in my Cup/ Coinholder.
- Replaced all interior bulbs. (Clocks, Ciggy Lighter, etc)
- Resprayed wipers 205 metallic black.
- Carpets shampoo cleaned, and the same for Dandism mats!.


New Dandism mats, in great condition for theit age.
Gave them 3 bouts of shampooing

Looks great man. Love the fuel cap was lookin at one on ebay myself but i was too stingy was costing a fortune from aus

I should have more updates on the way in the coming days.
The car is going into storage for the winter months at the end of November.

I hope to revamp the sound system, fit a new clutch, and get the underbody of the car painted during this time.

Thanks a million to "got92tubby" for meeting up and giving me a few MR2 parts that I've after since I got the car.

First and foremost I tackled the extremely annoying crackling in the back right speaker behind the driver.

While I had the panel off I checked the sponge lining in the sides and in the sill for rust or moisture, and found none B).

I fitted the new OEM speaker and re-glued the sponge material to the back of the plastic panel. I replaced all broken clips with spares from my TTE Corolla project.

Adding those guys in should make sure the plastics don't rattle on bad roads.

Next I tackled the subwoofer in the back on the car that was rattly at high volumes.
I took it out and the sound proofing sponge material had disintegrated into powder :fail:

I intend to replace the entire unit tomorrow with a spare tomorrow.

I finished off with the subtle repairs.

Next steps are to repair the subwoofer and install the new tweeters and subwoofers. :)

did you fit those woofers yourself? I have a pair of them and amps from my breaker but can see no wiring in place for them

Replacing some bits in them now though as they are rat arsed

Pulled out the tattered speaker from the box.

Plugged it into the unit and into the car. Sounds the job!
Only have the front speakers to tackle now.

Ordered a new Exedy clutch for the MR2, hope to have it here by tomorrow.
I checked all the fuses since my last update and there were a few missing or wrong.
Fixed them all up and got the right drivers side fan working again.


I also just won an e glow MR2 badge on eBay.
I understand that these are extremely rare, got it for less than 20e
I can't wait to fit it, I'll probably do the front speakers this weekend too.
