Re: WANTED 6 Years, 9 Months ago Karma: 14
i no how to take out bulbs, but thats a NCT fail,if it wasnt for the NCT i would just rip-out the complete ABS System, but thats a fail also,i no how to connect the abs bulb to the engine management,so it gives the look off abs working but thats dodgy, you can cause yourself more trouble doing that with electrics,NCT wont allow a car to pass without a ABS System if it was originally fitted in the factory,im more annoyed that i paid a guy down here in waterford to repair my abs ecu,and now the $£(*&&^% wont answer his phone to me,seems waterford is full off incompenant fools,as i have tryed every so called mechanic, even main dealer and nobody knows how to work on electronics on my mr2.

Was talking to a guy, that deals with Mr'2s he said it's for defo your abs sensor more than likely rear passenger side, but before you take it out use plenty of wd40 and leave it for a day our 2 and then spray again, if not when u open the m10 bolt the head will snap off because of all the rust and dirt that builds up, but that year abs sensor rear passenger side gives problems, might help

hi steve, yes the left rear abs sensor was first thing i replaced, its an ecu fault though,as when abs light stays on constant, not giving fault codes, this means an abs ecu,or engine ecu fault,i was just annoyed that i paid a guy to fix ecu and no difference and now he wont answer his phone to me,im calmer today so have taken car off done deal lol, will just connect abs light to engine management light now,and feck the abs lol, thanks for reply

Yeah i had the issue and i passed nct, youre guaranteed to pass if you do this:
Pull out clocks and connect your abs light to p/s light because it goes on and off before you even crank engine which is what they want the abs light to do but make sure you take out p/s bulb its not required for nct anyway, if they see the 2 bulbs going on and off together they might say something but i highly doubt it, just leave p/s bulb out anyway.
And if they say anything about brake pedal not giving abs feel just say car has to be going over 30kmh for abs to function.

Thats what i did at first dont leave it like that they will fail it, when they turn ignition on they wait for abs light to go out before starting engine, only p/s light goes on and off at the correct time.

I have the same issue after discovering that the dealer who sold me my car had taped over the ABS light so I wouldn't know there was a problem.

How did you connect the light to the engine light?

Take out clocks,at back off clocks take out abs bulb holder,on holder you will see 2 metal connection points at each-side off the bulb holder, cut 2 pieces off electrical wire, and either soilder or place them in tight off the metal connectors, now before you replace bulb holder i advice, placing electrical tape over area around bulb holder as you dont want wire touching off any other electrical circuits, then take out power steering bulb holder, and connect your abs wires you made to power steering holder, remember have each wire connected to same side on each holder, then check your wires are safely insulated away from any metal wires or other bulbs, believe me if hose wires touch off something they shouldnt,it blows fuses, bulbs,so i advice have spare fuses and bulbs on hand, before doing any work, plug in clocks and test before assembly, hope this helps, very hard for me to explain these things,im more hands on person,if you still have probs,i will tke out my clocks to take pics.
