Hi guys,

This might have been asked before but who would be the most trusted mapper(s) in teh country including northern ireland.

I am looking at maybe getting my supra put through its paces and potentially a new map but not sure who to go to.

Westwards - wont touch it
TDP.ie - No problem working on a Vipec/Link but have heard both good/bad about em
Powermax Engineering - Heard some good things about these guys and worked on quite a few 2jz. Based in Londonderry but again no first hand opinions

Not sure who else..

Thanks,
Baz

Simple .... Revs ...He has done mine and done unreal with it has it up to 315 bhp in a rev 2 ... He is a genius and cheap ... He has fixed thing after all of those names you have mentioned ... 2jz is no problem ... I seen the guy put 2 fully built zx9's in the back of a fiat cinquicento and have them within 1/2 a bhp each ...

Call him drop my name and better price will be the result 085 271 1471

Having it up to 315bhp and doing it safe are different (not saying he hasnt) but how long have you been running it. I thought mine was mapped well previously but it went pop...so having something on the limit isnt always the way to go for road cars.

Whats his dyno like, what equipment does he have access to and cooling for car etc during runs?

I really don't care about price I want quality and a sensible map (not hunting for power figures)

From any similar threads I've read a fella called Joe Power always seems to come the most highly recommended.

How's the supra going for ya?

Joe Power has been deemed responsible for Brian Sextons engine going pop ... so far nothing has gone pop from power .... anything that broke on me was because its 20 year old

Why wont westwards touch it?

I have a greddy emanage piggyback and went to westward too he said he wont go near it because its a shit ecu,
I did more research on the internet and found out its a pretty good piggyback you just need to know what youre doing, so i went to Revs then, he got my rev3 up to 330bhp at .8bar, its my everyday car and shes still going strong no problem, it was mapped around spring if i remember correctly...
I brought my track car to him aswel but havent had it out on track yet so waiting to see how that goes.

Well to be honest and in my opinion not really if you have nothing else done to the car ..

You can put an apexi neo or a similar device to piggyback on the ecu and asjust the fuel and air mixture but your gain will be very little ... As I understand it the biggest restriction on an NA is the exhaust system ..

They also do a thing called a power deck spacer for the 3sge engine and that seems to get a few horses ... at the moment we are looking at getting one of them made for the celica I have as a track backup .. After we play with the celica we will be able to tell you what works and what is just an urban legend ...

Thanks guys

Think I am either gonna go with West Coast Performance head good things from one of the pro drivers who has his 2jz mapped by them and has been bullet proof. Or else it will be Powermax Engineering in the north as they are a Vipec main dealer and have done quite a few 2jz's too.

Baz you are right to be cautious when it comes to choosing someone to tune your car.

You could have the best ecu on the market, but if the tuner is a cowboy then it just isn't going to be tuned properly.

When I get to the stage that I want my MR2 tuned, I will be doing a lot of searching for reviews of tuners in Ireland and the UK.

Keep us updated with your Supra's progress. I am curious as to how much tuners charge these days too.

Hey Marty, I'll keep you posted alright would love to be able to map myself might have to do some reading and maybe one day try it on the mr2 xD

Charges are in and around 5-600euro from initial pricing for a full map from a blank canvas.

Something else to conside Baz is that the dyno can put a lot of load on your car so if anything is even the slightest bit iffy it may turn up on the dyno. They are much better than trying to 'road tine though' as you can do constant adjustments without having to wait for traffic or exceeding speed limits etc.
