Hi lads hope ye are all well I need to pick yet brains.I bought a 3rd gen 3sge powered mr2 a week ago.car is breaking my heart.it has an intermittent problem of overfueling like crazy every second time I go to start it but only from cold.when it's ok it drives perfectly but it will hardly run when overfueling.I have replaced coolant temp sensor and dizzy cap and leads and lamda but still no joy.any ideas did the fuel pressure regulator give trouble on these or anything like that? I'm at my wits end every time I think it sorted I come back the following day to hear it pop out exhaust and run like crap with a smell of petrol off it.

No idea, but check for errors codes using the diagnostics port in the engine bay.

You need to bridge terminals TE1 and E1 with a wire, then look at the check engine light on the dash, it will flash in a sequence which gives you any error codes stored in the ECU 3 flashes then a pause followed by 2 flashes means an error code of 32 (Air Flow Meter)

www.troublecodes.net/toyota/

When you get that info, maybe it will help and come back to us.

Possibly blocked injector? I know that sounds counter-intuitive but something to look at because it's often overlooked.

I pulled codes and it showed lamda fault but I believe the only reason the lamda is showing a fault is due to crazy readings from overfueling.I'm not sure about injector but I'll check it feels like it's just pumping fuel in it might be a fecked ecu too I'm not sure car has a crazy wide arch kit looks stunning so mad to get it going right

Another thing that comes to mind is if you might have a cam slightly mis aligned. I had that issue on my Rev2 when I first got it and it was very lumpy/rich when starting and then ran ok(ish) when warm.

Sorry I thought I wrote back to you in another thread??

AFAIK the best guy to contact for an ECU would be ST182R. If you click on this profile link you can send him a PM from there.

Otherwise there is ebay?

Worth a try wont blow anything up
not sure the ecu will cause it to run rich
the FPR has been known to stick on them or the diaphragm can be punctured in it.

I think another ECU would work ok, I think the pinouts are on the back of the label? or maybe they are on the board itself, you could take a look if you have a second ECU to hand.

I thought the whole idea of this forum was to help and encourage each other no?I wasn't moaning I was stating a fact.I was looking for help and info from a forum designed for that so of course I wasn't thrilled when no one was replying to my thread.

For those of you that did offer advice and suggestions I do really appreciate it.
