Hi Folks!

My engine (3rd gen 3sgte)will be rebuilt by ~April and I'm considering to get a downpipe, but only if I don't have to swap back and fort every once a year.

My engine will be fully stock, including injectors, ECU and exhaust.

Would it pass?

I don't think they're worried about the downpipe itself, the main thing they will want to see is the reduced emissions due to having a cat converter in there. So you have two options:

1. get a downpipe with a cat in it
2. get a high flow cat welded in to another part of your exhaust system

I had a downpipe on my rev3 turbo and it failed emissions by a lot ! Put in an XS power hi-flow Cat and it brought them back in under.

Where are you getting your engine rebuilt ? stock rebuild or aftermarket pistons, rods etc ?

I had an xs cat as well. It lasted a year! But mine is pre cat. So is acting as a down pipe now. I think once the stock cat is removed its easier to swap around when needs be?!

I'll get it done in Hungary (I'm Hungarian )
I know a guy there doing a great job and I found already a good/cheap transport method.

Well, it's gonna be an aftermarket/stock rebuilt. All parts will be OE equalent parts.
I won't go for forged pistons or such.
I want to keep her as stock as possible. I'll even get a stock airfilter box

If decat is a no go, I think I'll get a KO DP and weld in a hi flow aftermarket CAT.
