I was putting the rod back in place in the dark and the clip snapped in 2 :(

Its cabletied in place for now:

New Part from Toyota is €2.07 and the Part No is: 53452-17030

Might be of use to someone.

I ordered 2 just incase! So I have a backup (its the same part no for the front one as well)

I suppose I was a bit heavy handed the other night but I sppose all the heat ,etc generated in the engine bay its going to weaken the plastic a little.

Same thing happened to me so I changed to a gas one

Works out to be pretty expensive with shipping...reckon I could make up one of those myself - hardest part would be the bracket...but I think I've that sussed.

Any chance you can messure the gas strut and let me know the size, I have one from a primera, snapped hinge but the strut is in good nick.

They've changed the design..looks a bit more sturdy then the old one I had..not too worry I'm in the process of making up a converting it to a gas strut bonnet.

Nice job, didn't seem to set back to much either. It's great that you can still buy parts directly from Toyota!
