Hi Guys I am in 2 minds with what to do ..

I first decided to build the car for show but we dont do any shows but after driving it a number of times I realized it only likes to be driven hard and fast ... So in my head thats the car telling me to drive the crap out of it ...

I know its only an NA but if the car is setup correctly and is driven correctly it should lap as quick as a turbo ... and even if it won't I am sure i will walk away with a smile on my face ...

What do you guys think ??

I'd love to get a second 2 for a track day use and its been something I've been thinking about for a while, atm my money is going elsewhere but as soon as I can afford it i'll be getting a track car and racking up some track time.
Lifes too short, may as well do what you enjoy while you here!

If ya got the money ta do it I would!! My turbo that I bought few weeks ago is only for occasional road use and track use!! Roll on feb 28tg it will be in mondello for its first outing and as long as that goes well itl be coming to nurburgring in April!!
Should be fun as I've done loads of tackdays in fwd and rwd but never in mid engine

Good thing about the MR2 is it can turn heads and also put in a decent (and fun) performance at the track. You may find that there's more than enough power there already to get in to trouble so maybe you don't need to make it a 'dedicated' track day car - the mid engine configuration makes it very flexible that way!

But. at the same time, it'd be a shame to see the carbon wrap getting scraped, damaged

buy yourself a spare set of wheel and put some sticky rubber on them. Then track the car with the good rubber .... change the wheels and drive home.

I am afraid of damaging the carbon fibre but I am getting 2 brave on the roads ...

I run out of bravery before it runs out of grip ... Love the back roads ... and its only going to get me in trouble ... Its not exactly stealth like ... so I am sure the garda will be looking for it soon .. LOL

Having a track car definitely reduces your need to thrash the hell out of your own car on the roads, but its not without its issues. Unless you are going to keep it road legal, you will need a trailer, something to pull it, somewhere to keep it and a car transporter is not a small thing to be sitting about.

If all that does not bother you, then track it. You wont see any damage unless you hit something, you are never that close to other cars so you dont get stone chips or the like.

I have neither the time or the money but I will just have to do it

Not really, thats the basics to go to a track day with, do consider that you might need fuel when you are there so a couple of jerry cans can be very handy.

The only other thing I would recommend you take with you is a tyre pressure gauge.
