The MR2 has been parked up since the end of October as it was out of tax, parked up in a corner of the estate, within 50 yards of the house . I spotted this morning that the rear right tyre was looking a bit flat. Out with the jumpstarter/compressor. Not pumping up. Jacked up the car to spin the tyre to see what could have pierced the tyre. I put the compressor on again and waited, then I heard the hiss..
On the outside sidewall, there's a 3 inch long deep scratch that has completely gone through the sidewall. Great. Not even 50 miles done on a €250 tyre.

Next I tried to open the car, and the key won't go more than halfway in - some scrote has jammed something into the lock and now I'll have to take that apart and see what that was.

Looks likely that my plans to get it back on the road in March is going to be delayed a bit.

Quite angry.

I took an hour and went figuring out how to access and disassemble the door lock. I got it in the end - some of those bolts are quite hard to access without taking out the window regulator.

So I got the handle off and got the lock out and yes indeed some muppet had broken off a key in the lock. It took a bit of gentle persuasion to get it out, but it's now out and everything is reassembled and back working..

Checked the replacement cost of the tyre - €140, so not as bad as I thought originally.
Still tyre plus fitting plus time, that I don't have to spare.

I am going to report it anyway as criminal damage, just to get it on the stats.
