TOPIC: That funky British spoiler?

That funky British spoiler? 5 Months, 1 Week ago Karma: 9
There is a lifted fiberglass spoiler I see on some British/UK MR2s. What's up with it, function, name, brand, company, etc?

Are you talking about the rev5 spoiler?

No, not that one. I'm actually seeing it now for the white/silver/grey MR2 that apears in the forum header. It looks more lke a saucer/mushroom from behind and sits about three-five inches from the top of the car. I'm assuming that new style of spoiler helps with drag?

I'm cycling through the forum images but can't seem to find one.

This is the closest thing I can find, however I'm uncertain if this is it (unclear image and angle)

If the pic you are talking about has an office building background at night, then it is mnixons car. It is a standard rev3 spoiler on steriods/extended upright thingys.

I see, so that MR2 saw a Ferarri and felt uplifted.

Is that type of spoiler functional? And I swear I've seen it on more than one MR2 up your alley.

It was a Jap import on mnixons car (not sure if the spoiler originated in Japan). He changed it to a more moderate spoiler sine

I didn't think anyone could tame an import.

That's my car alright, I got rid of the spoiler. It's called a rookie racing spoiler, and as far as I know they're more common in the US than they are over here. I've certainly seen more pictures of them in the US anyway.

To the best of my knowledge, it came with the car from Japan

Rookie Racing Spoiler? Odd, that sounds like the average stick on spoilers I see on cars here in the states.

I was the one that took it off MNixon's hands! Still sitting in the shed to be honest. I have that, a genuine Rev5 spoiler and some rare S2000 wheels to sell!

But it is way too cold to be out taking pics etc
