Haven't updated this in a while but finished up my valve cover. Blasted it, welded the center hole and the bolt hole to the left of it and smoothed them and also removed the extra meterial from casting around the edges. Also received my new billet 6766 and modded the turbine housing.

Billet precision 6766 cea with the ported H comp housing (4" in 3" out), T3 .63ar and 4 bolt (tig'ing a 4" vband flange on). :) My new valve cover is at the powdercoater and won't be done till late next week unfortunately.
But I came to a quick solution and executed it tonight. I like it however it shifts everything to the right about an inch so it's going to throw my exhaust off but that's not a big deal. Little cut and weld of that and it will be good.

Oh and I heated the turbine housing up with the torch prior to welding and then in the last couple pics it's 'cooling' on the heater.
I thought the exhaust wasn't going to line up with the dp after modding the turbine housing on the turbo and it shifting over an inch BUT I was wrong. It actually fits better. Another big perk of vband connections. hah Now I just need to finish the drain and mod the hot pipe to rotate the bov back level (as much as I hate having to cut and weld the hot pipe again. Oh and I have to do something about the dipstick tube cause it's gonna be pissed otherwise. It's about 3/4" from the dp.
Marty J wrote: Regarding the dip stick, why not store it in the trunk for when needed and install a cover on the tube ?I will probably lose the dipstick doing that. haha Any kind of cap that will seal will also melt probably. I have already bent it some and it has about an inch and a half clearance now. I thought about just ordering a stainless handled DS from two's r us or someone....I'll just have to remember to wear gloves if I check it after running the car. lol

When do you think you'll have this new setup up and running Josh?haha I know! I love the way the new turbo looks. Looks like it has some major balls now.
I may have it running tonight but after tonight I'm shipping the valve cover off in the pics because it's sold. My new one should be ready from the powdercoaters thursday or sooner. Hopefully sooner. hah
Valve cover back, cleaned, baffles in, and installed. I like it! got a couple things I want/need to do before I start it up. Will be driving it this weekend though.

Hah thanks Geoff! Did some quick tuning yesterday, 15psi feels damn strong around 475-500whp strong. What's even more crazy is the response and spool. It starts building around 2800 and takes off at 34-3500rpm and pulls really nice. It feels identical to my old 6262 in response/spool. I like it a lot.

Infamous wrote: Damnnnn!!!!! Haha I've been hardly online so updates are slow from me but got a quick vid above. I have a couple odd issues regarding heat that causes a bad misfire. It's only when I come to a stop for an extended amount of time and when I take off again it backfires bad till whatever is getting hot cools. Suspect the coils but need to do some diagnostics.
I have 1/2 throttle in boost tuned to 11.4ish which is very conservative for now but the car rips at just 15psi.
What I'm really surprised is how much response and low end power it has. It's very strong down low and drive excellent around town.

Dusted off my high speed buffer and glaze and did a quick polish last week. Need to get a couple coats of wax on it. Hopefully do that tomorrow evening but we'll see. Sucky cell phone pics and I tried to reduce the sun glare as much as I could. Car looks tiny next to the f250 hah. Need to lower the rear a tiny bit. Raised it up a few days ago.

Finally hopped on a scale. Without me and with me. It's right where I thought it would be. Still a few things I can do to shave about 50-100lbs off and that's not including changing wheels which my rears weigh 50lbs a piece. My drag wheels/tire weigh 20lbs So 25XXlbs in drag trim is NO problem. Not bad IMO considering it's full interior, full audio with 2 subs and 2 amps, etc.
I always thought it was around that weight in street trim just by how easy the car could be moved pushing it around and quickly adding up the weight I shaved off compared to the weight it was factory. (Weighed 3080lbs factory so it was a pig).

Misfire still present. Slowly narrowing it down though. Either coils or a cam sensor issue. (suspect cam sensor more so). Vid doesn't give perspective of how hard it pulls but gives an idea of how quick the billet 6766 spools. 15 psi extremely conservative timing and fuel maps and quarter-half throttle. Feels around 450-500whp though and others that have ridden in it with me all agree. Plan on taking it up to 45psi.

Got a late b-day present from my parents last night since they've been out of the country but it was well worth the wait! Actually it's kind of funny because I almost bought what they got me yesterday because I've needed a new one. Anyway, it's a new Miller Performance Series welding helmet. '64 Custom design. Can't wait to use it tomorrow night.

Also, went to a drift even with a good friend of mine this past Saturday in his IS300 with a VVTI 1j swap, 3076, 4" exhaust, e85, etc. I did a ride along to get vid on my phone on his first pass as he was getting familiar with the track and had an incident. I was shooting the rear tire smoke through the side mirror and on a hard switch-back I hit my arm on the door and the phone flew out of the window. lol It was hilarious when we got back. iPhone 4's are incredibly robust. Lost the screen but I've rebuilt a bunch of them so it's an easy fix. Anyway, it kept recording and here's the vid.
